The Last Mile in Healthcare
presented by Stan Nowak, CEO & Co-Founder, Silverlink Communications

All industries have a last mile. In healthcare, the last mile is where things break down. It’s where science tells us one thing; yet individuals do another. It is where disconnects between patients, physicians and personal barriers prevent us, collectively as a country, from making the most effective and efficient health decisions. This presentation explores some of the common behavioral disconnects in health and how we can overcome them by bridging the last mile in healthcare. It explores the barriers of cost, access, beliefs, and understanding. Ultimately this presentation presents a process for health behavior change leveraged from the disciplines in other consumer industries so we can begin to create a true culture of health in this country.

Mr. Nowak is the founder and CEO of Silverlink Communications, where he is delivering on his vision to measurably improve health outcomes and significantly reduce healthcare costs through effective communications. Under his leadership, Silverlink has developed flexible communications technology and proprietary analytics capabilities to deliver highly personalized and interactive communications — all with a single focus — to better understand and drive healthcare consumer behaviors. Mr. Nowak's background includes over 20 years of general and executive management in technology services and he has held previous executive roles with StorageNetworks, GTE and InterGen (Bechtel). He is frequently quoted within both the healthcare industry and business press on topics such as healthcare communications, consumerism in healthcare and the strategic use of analytics to drive health behaviors.
